Some Do’s and Don’ts of Web Design
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009When designing a website there are many things to be aware of, many do’s and don’ts, many little things that might not normally cross your mind. As designers we must understand that we design from skills, from experience, and from knowledge. Client’s just might say that they want their logos HUGE and overdone textures and gradients; but as experienced designers we must continue to steer the clients and projects in the right direction.
DO: Keep your page structured.
Recently there has been an explosion of new grid layouts and css systems for us designers to make use of. Both the 1kb CSS Grid and the 960 Grid Systems are incredible! Web layouts are a lot like print layouts, follow a grid, structure, and balance. These are not new ideas for us designers, we simply have to implement them into our workflow. Grid systems help lay out the information in an easy to understand and flowable format.
